How much does solar cost in Madurai? (2026 guide)
“How much does it cost?” is the first thing nearly every Madurai homeowner asks us. The honest answer: it depends — but on things that are easy to understand, and once you know them you can read any quote you’re handed. We won’t print a single rupee figure here, because an accurate price needs a look at your roof and your EB bill. What we can do is show you what actually moves the number.
A rooftop system is more than panels. A fair quote covers the panels, the inverter, the mounting structure (sized for local wind), the civil work, the wiring and safety gear, the labour (our own team, not subcontracted), and the paperwork — the subsidy claim and TANGEDCO net metering. When you compare two quotes, check they include the same scope. A cheaper number often quietly leaves out civil work, safety, or the paperwork you’ll then be chasing yourself.
On sizing: a 1–2 kW system suits a small home with a modest bill, 3 kW is the most common home size and pairs neatly with the subsidy, and 5 kW suits larger homes running air-conditioning. The right size follows your actual usage, not a rule of thumb.
The biggest lever on your net price is the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. Under current guidelines a typical 3 kW home system can attract up to ₹78,000, credited to your bank after installation. Treat any figure as indicative until it’s confirmed.
And think about payback, not just price. Price is what you pay once; savings are what you collect for 25 years. For most Madurai homes a well-sized system covers most or all of the monthly TANGEDCO bill and pays for itself within a few years — after which the power is essentially free for the rest of the panels’ life. That’s also why the cheapest quote usually isn’t the best value: cheap panels and inverters underperform and fail early, and a rock-bottom price often means weak warranties and no one local to call.
How we quote: a free site survey, then a fixed, itemised written quote with your estimated subsidy and savings already worked in. No pressure.
