Solar for farmers: PM-KUSUM & solar water pumps in Tamil Nadu

For many Tamil Nadu farmers, irrigation is one of the biggest and least predictable running costs. Solar water pumps give you reliable daytime water at close to zero running cost — no diesel, no waiting on grid timing. Panels run the pump directly from sunlight, sized to your water depth and flow needs.

The benefits are straightforward: near-zero running cost, reliable daytime irrigation, little maintenance (far fewer moving parts than a diesel set), long life, and no more losses when the power’s out. The PM-KUSUM scheme supports farmers adopting solar, including standalone pumps and, in some components, grid-connected agricultural solar — though eligibility and amounts vary by state, component and year, so any figure needs checking for your situation. We start with a free farm survey of your water source, land and irrigation needs, recommend the right pump and panel sizing, and help with the PM-KUSUM paperwork where you’re eligible.
